New & Used Removable Homes

Home Removal information

Most removal homes come from inner city sites under going redevelopments. A removal / preloved home can save you time and money; it can be moved and finished quicker than building a new dwelling. Removable homes vary in style, size and condition.

Most secondhand homes come with existing floor coverings, curtains, bath, hot water system, light fittings, air conditioners etc. Some may require repairs where as others are quite comfortable to move into immediately with little outlays required unless you the owner would prefer to improve them to suit your lifestyle.

Depending on your circumstances and budget, and what you want in a home, removal dwellings can be considered to be quite cheap in comparison to a new dwelling. If you have the time, and are able to do the handy man jobs yourself it’s a great way to save money.

You may wish to consider doing an Owner/Builder course if doing the work yourself, information regarding these courses is available at http://www.bsa.qld.gov.au, course costs vary from under $200 to around $300. These courses are available at some TAFE colleges and also Registered Training Organizations. With determination, patience, a dream and a passion any removal house can undergo a Cinderella like transformation. With a little TLC you could turn a removal house into a home. A lot of old houses have rare natural timbers that are harder to locate in these modern times. Once restored and maintained you can have great pride in how original and genuine your home is. Polished timber is timeless and can match and co-ordinate any décor whether it being from an era gone by right through to the new modern sharp angles and corrugated iron designs.

Building a Queenslander, Colonial or workers cottage from new doesn’t have the same feel and look from a past era.

Look at it like we do “recycling old homes saves timber and the environment”

Careful assessments and planning are required before the house is even loaded. Consideration to the surrounding environment like trees limiting access for the truck and trailer can be cause for concern (depending on the size and location of the house). Whether neighbouring properties will have an effect on getting the house out without any damage. Street location at times can hinder a house being removed, narrow streets, power poles, with power lines hanging low, can become a nightmare. If you’d like to give us a ring, one of our professional staff can give you a no obligation inspection to answer any of your concerns. Under laws governed by Main Roads Dept and Dept of Transport a house can generally only travel during certain times on the road due to traffic consideration and safety to other motorists.

We prefer to move a house from its existing site straight to its new location. Shifting the house once minimizes damages and costs. Most houses, depending on size and the distance it will travel, require part of the roof to be removed then replaced after the removal process. Also the house may well have to be cut into sections. Generally a house wider than 8.5 Metres will require cutting in half. This is a common process and rest assured that if your house has to be cut, it will be done with precision and care. Once your house is joined back together you will be pleasantly surprised, as the cut is easily concealed behind skirting boards and cover strips.

Wright Bros can also provide house storage in our Elimba or Curra yards if required.
